Our Philosophy
Play is serious work for children. Let them grow and blossom.
The Fair Lawn Jewish Center Nursery School and Kindergarten believes young children have the best opportunity to develop in a warm and nurturing environment that stimulates their curiosity.
The goal of our school is to have your children grow, develop, and learn while having fun and feeling good about themselves as people and Jews. We look forward to the children developing emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively. In our school we focus on social skills whether it is by emerging friendships, conflict resolution, or assisting a child to gain independence. Young children learn by doing and we expect the children to be active learners, constantly experimenting with the world around them.
Play is a medium for your children's exploration of the world. As educators, it is our role to facilitate your child's learning through play. We also strive to create a balance between teacher-directed activities and having enough time for the children to select their own activities. Emphasis is placed on the creation of a positive self-image and the fostering of Jewish identity within each child.
We want your children to live Judaism, not just learn it.
Half-Day is 9:00 to 11:30 A.M. or 9:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. Full-Day is 9:00 A.M. to 3:15 P.M. Flexible Nursery schedules are available for the Tiny Tots (2 year olds), Busy Bees (3 year olds) and Pre-Kindergarten (4 year olds).
To accommodate working parents, extended hours are offered beginning at 7:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. Our programs are rich in Jewish and secular content. The daily schedule includes Share a Shabbat program, Jewish holidays, trips, special events music program movement/dance and yoga class.
We have spacious classrooms, an indoor playroom, outdoor playground and a newly renovated full size gymnasium. Summer Camp applications are available for children ages 2 to 5.
The loving hand of experience is the backbone of our staff. They are warm, nurturing and creative individuals who are dedicated to the school. All of our teachers are CPR and First Aid certified.
The staff works cooperatively with parents to facilitate and encourage independence in bathroom training for children in the Tiny Tots (2's) and Busy Bees (3's) classes. Children should be fully trained upon entering the Pre-K (4's) program.
Families need not be members of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center to attend the nursery school. Fees are base on a yearly enrollment contract. Tuition is payable monthly and is divided into 10 equal payments or you may pay the tuition in full and we will deduct 5% from your tuition bill. A non-refundable registration fee and one month's tuition is due at time of registration.
