Jewish worship every day of the year.
We have morning and evening minyanim every day of the year. Our High Holiday services
accommodate literally thousands of people in services for adults, teens and children.
All of our services have lay participation -- our members are participants, not
just spectators in their practice of Judaism. Our Egalitarian philosophy means
that women and men are equal partners in our religious services. We also provide
alternate services for those who seek a more traditional approach. You will also
find age appropriate Junior Congregation services for children.
Education
The Fair Lawn Jewish Center offers a complete Jewish education to our children with a
Religious School program that begins in first grade and continues through Bar
or Bat Mitzvah and beyond. Our dedicated staff makes Jewish study fun and rewarding.
They involve parents in the education process so that the entire family learns
together.
We have one of the finest early childhood education programs in Bergen County. Our professionally staffed Nursery School has operated for over 30 years. And our pre-school programs are open to Jewish families whether or not they are Center members. During the summer, kids may join our Little Sunshine Day Camp. Our Abner and Diane Blumberg Playground provides a large recreation area with a brand new playscape and a sand box big enough for a whole bunch of laughing, happy children.
We
provide funding to help pay for our teens to enroll in the Bergen County Hebrew
High School. For adults, our Rabbi offers weekly classes on the Talmud and the
week's Torah portion. Finally, the Fair Lawn Jewish Center houses the Max E. and
Anna Bornstein Library, one of the finest Judaica libraries in Bergen County,
including an extensive Yiddish collection. Last year alone, over 1,000 Center
members and others from the Fair Lawn Jewish community used our library to conduct
research, to participate in children's story hours and to borrow from our extensive
collection. Social activities
There
are many social opportunities for visiting with old friends and making new ones.
Our Sisterhood and Men's Progress Club sponsor many fun and exciting programs
each year to raise funds for special needs programs that benefit the Center and
the community. In addition, every year, the Center and our various groups host
a number of cultural events. Join us for a concert with such entertainers as the legendary Sol Zim. Take an over-night trip to the National Holocaust Museum. Go on a tour of the Lower East Side. Or come to one of our special speaker events. The Fair Lawn Jewish Center has heard the inspiring words of Rabbi Avi Weiss, an address by Governor Whitman, and talks by Peninnah Schram and several nationally acclaimed Jewish scholars.
If
you wish to participate in community service activities, you will want to become part
of our Social Action program. We go on Shabbat visits to the home-bound and the
sick, and collect food and clothes for the needy both in and beyond the Jewish
community. Beautiful inspiring space
The
Fair Lawn Jewish Center has beautiful, inspiring spaces for worship, study, learning
and socializing with friends. We have rooms of all sizes, appropriate for small
gatherings and large affairs; informal get-togethers and formal meetings or galas.
Our Activities Level has an enormous amount of space for all types of meetings
and events. The Marc Steven Haar Youth Lounge and our Arts & Crafts room are great
places for kids to play and get to know other Jewish children. Throughout the
Center, meeting rooms are available for use by Center members and outside groups
of all sizes. Our full-size gymnasium is available for all Center members -- plenty
of room to play a little "one-on-one" or full-court basketball.
Other extras
We have an exclusive catering arrangement with Main Events Caterers. Add special
flair and delicious elegance to your affair with one of North Jersey's foremost
catering and event planners.
What more could you ask for?
Our full-time office staff is always available to answer questions and be of assistance. We would love to meet you and show you around our very unique synagogue. If you're interested in a tour, or if you would like to join the Fair
