Little Sunshine Day Camp Events

Girl in Sunglasses
We try to include some of the same programs day in and day out. Young children like to know what to expect, especially when they can look forward to activities every day.

Our campers can look forward to making an art project, and perhaps learning a new song. Weather permitting; there will always be an opportunity to play on our private playground, have fun in the sand box and enjoy our wading pools. Every week the children can look forward to special visits by the Rabbi or the Cantor to share Shabbat, or talk about a special subject.

Naturally, they work up quite an appetite. Snack time is important, as well as rest time, to recharge their batteries. This year children can "Grow their own Lunch" – we’ll grow and nurture our own vegetable garden, and then literally "enjoy the fruits (well, the vegetables) of our labors."

Since not all days are right for outdoor play, we’ll have a wealth of extra special activities for those days when it is too hot or too wet to be outside. Singing, drawing or painting, games and story-telling will all be part of our repertoire. We’ll be limited only by our imaginations.

Our calendar will include special events just about every week. We’re already planning to include favorites from past summers. So our campers can look forward to The Fun Bus, pony rides, Stretch the Silly Man and more.

Specialists in yoga and in music will be part of our program during the summer. We’re also going to have our own Little Sunshine Olympics. Our camper-appropriate "competitions" will include
  • Bubble blowing
  • Tricycle races
  • Sand-castle-building
  • Shooting (mini) hoops
  • and much more

The children will also work together to "build" and decorate our own indoor castle. We’ll use boxes and decorations donated by Center Members to make our own dream-space. Once finished, the children will be able to play inside and outside our castle. There will be a special dress-up area so everyone can be whatever knight, princess, king or queen they choose to be.
